Ready to take your wine or spirits expertise to the next level? While not a pre-requisite, we recommend that students have successfully completed, at a minimum, one of the following programs before enrolling in the Italian Wine Scholar program: WSET level 2, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) or Court of Master Sommelier's Introductory Sommelier Certificate (Level 1).
The Italian Wine Scholar program is a great resource and supplement for students of wine moving toward advanced general wine study programs such as WSET Diploma (level 4), Master of Wine, Court of Master Sommeliers' Advanced Sommelier (level 3 and up) or Society of Wine Educator's Certified Wine Educator (CWE).



The Wine Academy is based around offering the WSET (Wine and Spirits Education Trust) level 1 and level 2 courses, both of which are perfect for really getting to the heart of what makes each grape varietal unique, and which allow wine lovers to truly take their oenophilia to the next level.
The course comprises six downloadable wine modules and six video tutorials featuring the retailer's wine consultant MW Sam Caporn, which cover an introduction to wines, the principles of tasting, a look at white and red varieties, a tour through the classic regions and a module devoted to sparkling, sweet and fortified wines.

You'll take an online wine course where you read pages about the history and geography of wine growing and wine making, info on red and white wines, facts on sparkling and sweet wines, pages on wine and food pairings, and advice for choosing and storing wine.
The appreciation courses at The Wine House are particularly highly regarded, and see the expert sommeliers who run the courses taking their students through specific French, Italian, Spanish, German, and - of course - Australian wine regions, and honing in on what sets these regions apart from all others.
West London Wine School hosts wine tastings and courses in London for people who enjoy wine and would like to learn more about it. We are the largest independent provider of WSET courses in the United Kingdom and additionally are an approved provider of Wine Scholar Guild and BPET courses.

It is for these reasons then that, over the course of our existence, we have formed associations with other wine educating institutions and universities, and used well-regarded course advisers and tutors, but EWA (through its Principal) has also, at various times been a member or affiliated with the following institutions or professional bodies that oversee standards of e-learning wine tasting classes online and wine education: The European Association for Distance Learning, Association of British Correspondence Colleges, The Society of Wine Educators in the United States of America, International Council for Open and Distance Education, European Association for International Education, European Council for Business Education and the British Association for Open Learning.
The courses are mostly based on leading textbook (s) in the relevant field of study, blended with relevant wine articles and internet sources, and, where considered relevant, comments and contributions by the course designer, so that the particular course is a good combination of academic and practical content, blended with wine articles and internet sources to create an up-to-date and informative lecture.

One of the challenges of any winemaker is to try to use the characteristics of the grapes (or a combination of grapes) to produce a desired taste and aroma. WSET Level 3 A Level 2 Award in Wine and Spirits or equivalent is recommended. WSET's education is delivered via accredited classroom and online providers around the world, and all of its examinations are conducted in person.
Certified The Certified test is a multiple choice and short answer test along with a blind-tasting of 2 wines and a proper Champagne service. Aside from classroom learning, the best programs offer opportunities for students to complete internships or cooperatives at vineyards and wineries.
